Over 17,000 signatures for a budget veto: PP against the president's decision

"We Continue the Change" has collected over 17,000 signatures against the 2026 state budget. Iliana Iotova refused to issue a veto, citing a lack of legal and fiscal issues.

Record resistance against the 2026 state budget

The petition to veto the state budget, initiated by "We Continue the Change" (PP), has achieved an impressive result, gathering over 17,000 signatures in less than 24 hours.

"About 1,000 people per hour are signing the petition," commented the party's press center.

The party is insisting that the presidential institution stop the State Budget Act, as well as the budgets of the State Social Insurance (Doo) and the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). The main criticisms of the plan adopted on July 24 include:

Despite the pressure, Vice President Iliana Iotova confirmed that she had signed the laws. She stated that the presidential legal department did not find any fiscal or constitutional obstacles after reviewing over 25 opinions. Iotova assured that the detailed arguments of the presidency will be officially published for transparency.
