The resort town of Kiten on the southern Black Sea coast is transforming into a vibrant center of youth and sportsmanship, as it hosts the 23rd edition of the National Summer Student Games "Summer University". The initiative, organized by the National Representation of Student Councils (NRSC), started today and will continue until August 31, the organization officially announced. The event, held for the 23rd consecutive year, brings together students from all over the country with the ambitious goal of strengthening ties between academic communities and encouraging dialogue.
A Rich Program of Sports and Educational Modules
Although the summer season is coming to an end, the atmosphere in Kiten is charged with energy, and preparations for the event were visible from early in the morning. The organizers have ensured everything necessary for the large-scale event, which will include a rich program of sports competitions, social initiatives, and educational modules.
According to the official announcement from the NRSC, the sports events will take place at two main locations: the "Green Park" hotel and the picturesque "Atliman" beach. Participants will compete in tournaments for football, volleyball, beach tennis, and other various competitions, with strong competition expected to create tense and exciting moments for all attendees.
This comprehensive concept is at the heart of the initiative, which aims to encourage students toward "active socio-educational responsibility" and "the development of mass sports", as noted by the NRSC. The organization clarifies that absolutely all students enrolled in higher education institutions in Bulgaria have the right to participate.
In addition to the sports component, the organizers have also planned a series of lectures and training sessions that complement the program, emphasizing the pursuit of a balance between physical activity and personal development.
History of the Initiative
The history of the event began in 2002 under the name "National Student Games", and its first edition was held in Kranevo, Balchik municipality. Over the years, the project evolved, changing its name first to "Summer University", and after 2009, it acquired its final name, National Summer Student Games "Summer University", by which it is known to this day.
The eight-day event in the resort town of Kiten provides an opportunity for thousands of young people to meet, exchange experiences, and forge new friendships, strengthening the student community in Bulgaria. The organizers express hope that the initiative will leave a lasting impression on the memories of the participants and motivate them to lead a more active lifestyle.
