Ministry of Interior to Receive 5.8 Million Euros for Road Safety Fund in 2026.

The Council of Ministers approved funding for the Ministry of Interior for 2026, amounting to 5.774 million euros, for the activities of the Road Safety Fund. The Audit Office will audit the effectiveness of the control and the fund's contribution to improving road safety. Over 350 million leva have been collected in the fund from 2021 to November 2024.

The Council of Ministers approved funding for the Ministry of Interior (MoI) for 2026 in the amount of 5,774,000 euros to secure the activities of the Road Safety Fund, the press service of the caretaker cabinet announced.

In June 2025, the National Audit Office began an audit of the effectiveness of the control carried out by the MoI authorities and the contribution of the Road Safety Fund to improving road safety, the audit institution announced at the time. This fund, managed by the Minister of Interior, receives funds from fines for violations detected by technical means and systems, as well as funds from donations and other revenues. For a period of three years – from 2021 to the end of November 2024, over 350 million leva have been collected in the Fund.
