The Ministers of Interior and Regional Development and Public Works held a meeting regarding urgent measures to address the consequences of the heavy rainfall that has hit the country in recent days. The news was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Interior (MoI). Against the backdrop of floods and damage affecting various regions, the meeting focused on coordinated actions for recovery.

According to the information, with an official letter, the Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works initiated the beginning of a procedure for the use of funds from the "Solidarity" fund of the European Union (EU). This fund is aimed at supporting the Southeastern region, where the disaster has caused significant destruction.

The commitment of the MoI, the press center reports, is to prepare summarized information on the initial damage assessments and the eligible expenses. Subsequently, the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (MRRB) will deal with the preparation of the necessary documentation to apply for financial support from the fund.

The MoI emphasizes the key role of the "Solidarity" fund as the main EU instrument for recovery after natural disasters. This mechanism represents an expression of European solidarity and enables the Union to provide effective support to a member state or candidate country facing the consequences of a serious natural disaster. This includes floods, forest fires, earthquakes, storms or droughts, where material damage is significant.

In addition, during the meeting, the coordination between the "Traffic Police" and the "Road Infrastructure" Agency (RIA) was discussed. The topic was related to the introduction of temporary traffic organization in connection with repair works on the highways. The aim of these actions is to ease traffic in the affected sections, where the situation has been complicated after the disaster. There is a clear intention to react quickly and effectively to the situation and to minimize the inconveniences for citizens.
