After days of tension and anxiety, the little boy who suffered a severe electric shock in Varna has now been discharged from the hospital and has returned home to his family. The incident, which shook the local community, occurred last week while the child was playing carefree with his brother in a playground near their residential building.
The Dark Memories of a Children's Game
For the first time since the incident, the victim, Dimitar, spoke to a BNT camera on the show "The Day Begins", revealing the terrifying moments of the fateful evening. The description of the events from the child's own mouth shook the public.
"My brother and I were playing tag around 8 p.m. I just jumped over the fence while we were playing. But, so I wouldn't stumble, I grabbed onto a pole. And it didn't let go of me. I felt electricity inside me, it shook me very strongly. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't break away. I shouted "help" several times. And after two words, my voice was gone. I couldn't speak. I felt like there was no hope of being able to breathe anymore. And suddenly the electricity let me go. Then we went home and went to the hospital", he recounted with a trembling voice, as he relived the trauma.
The scene of the playground where the drama unfolded today looks quiet, but the air is filled with tension. Local residents are discussing the incident with concern and asking questions about the safety of public spaces, especially when it comes to children playing. Teams of municipal employees were seen nearby, inspecting the poles and facilities, while parents from the neighboring buildings watched with anxiety.
The Horror Through the Mother's Eyes
The boy's mother, Maria Ivanova, learned about the incident from her older son, who was with his brother during the incident. Her description of Dimitar's condition after the electric shock is shocking and sheds light on the seriousness of the situation.
"His hair was standing on end, his eyes were wide with horror. He was trembling convulsively and his eyes were bloodshot. The worst part was that he smelled of burnt human flesh. That worried me the most", she shared. She also said that Dimitar was in shock and could not speak, while his brother was able to explain more about what had happened to her.
Investigation Without Clear Answers
The incident also raises serious questions about the safety and maintenance of the city's electrical infrastructure. The Deputy Mayor for Security, Iliya Koev, commented that several checks had been carried out by the Municipality of Varna on the electrical poles in the area of the incident. The first two checks did not show the presence of electricity on the facilities, which makes the case even more mysterious.
"Since the first two checks did not show the presence of electricity on the poles, but the child was struck by electricity, I decided to an emergency appointment of a 4-member commission, which will be from the district mayor's office, the contractor company, "Engineering Infrastructure" at a large municipality and "Population Protection", who are power engineers at a large municipality. They toured 50 poles in the area, which were thoroughly inspected. There is no presence of electricity. Despite this, the child has a burnt hand. A strange incident", Koev stated, highlighting the absurdity of the situation. The last check, conducted by the newly formed commission, also found no problems with the facilities, leaving the question of how Dimitar got an electric shock completely unanswered.
