Historical Beginning of "Varna Summer"
Tonight at 8:00 PM, the jubilee edition of the International Music Festival "Varna Summer" opens at the Festival and Congress Center in Varna. This year, the forum marks 100 years since the creation of the Summer Musical Celebrations in the city.
"Varna Summer" is a symbol of Bulgaria's cultural heritage and musical spirit.
Star Cast and Program
- Conductor: Delyana Lazarova – the first lady on the conductor's podium in the festival's history.
- Performers: Varna Symphony Orchestra, Varna Opera Choir, BNR Mixed Choir, and "Dobri Hristov" Children's Choir.
- Soloists: Dmitry Sitkovetsky (violin), Andrei Ionita (cello), and Barry Douglas (piano).
The program includes Beethoven's "Triple Concerto" and the iconic "Vardar" rhapsody by Pancho Vladigerov. A special highlight is the world premiere of the cantata-poem "1876" by Prof. Milko Kolarov, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising.
Large-Scale Forum with International Participation
The festival is held under the honorary patronage of Vice President Iliana Iotova. More than a thousand musicians will take part in the program, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra London and the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra.
