Young leaders in agriculture - the EU discusses strategies to attract and retain young people in rural areas

The Minister of Agriculture and Food of Bulgaria will participate in an informal EU meeting, where opportunities to encourage young people to engage in the agricultural sector will be discussed. Key topics will be access to resources, education and support for starting one's own business in rural areas.

An informal meeting of the EU Ministers of Agriculture and Fisheries is scheduled to take place from June 15-17, 2025, in the Polish capital of Warsaw. Among the participants will be the Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture and Food, Dr. Georgi Takhov. The main topic of the discussions will be "Generational renewal as a basis for innovation and modernization in agriculture". The ministers will seek solutions to attract and retain young people in rural areas, as well as to encourage their active involvement in the agricultural sector. It is expected that good practices, financial instruments, and targeted policies that support young people's access to resources, education, and support for starting their own agricultural businesses will be discussed.
