A young man set fire to a gazebo on "Zheni Pateva" square, near the Old Court in the city. The incident, which provoked the corresponding reaction of the local authorities, raises questions about security and vandalism in public spaces.
The fire broke out in the dark hours of the night - around 1:30 a.m. on October 16, according to official information. The video surveillance cameras, installed in the square, filmed the perpetrator of the act. Seeing the flames, the residents of the neighboring dwellings reported the incident. A Fire Department team was immediately dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, the damage is significant: the wooden structure is seriously damaged, and the table – charred by the fire.
The authorities' reaction was immediate. The incident occurred at a time when Burgas Municipality had started repairing the playground located near the place of the arson. It is planned to replace the impact-absorbing flooring, as well as install new equipment. This puts the incident in the context of ongoing efforts to improve public infrastructure.
Representatives of the municipality announced that they would restore the burned gazebo. At the same time, the local administration appealed to the citizens – if they witness acts of vandalism, not to hesitate to report them to the emergency telephone 112.
The recordings from the municipal video surveillance, which document the act, have already been handed over to the competent authorities. The authorities are investigating the case, hoping to establish the causes of the arson and bring the perpetrator to justice.
