Real Madrid officially signed young Spanish defender Alvaro Carreras from Portuguese giant Benfica, sports media reported today. The deal is worth around 43 million British pounds, making it an extremely significant investment for the club.

The young footballer's career is marked by interesting moves between different European teams. Initially part of Real Madrid's youth academy from 2017-2020, Carreras subsequently joined Manchester United.

During his time at the English club, the defender failed to establish himself in the first team. Instead, he was loaned out consecutively to two teams - Preston and Granada, which allowed him to gain valuable competitive experience.

In early 2024, Carreras transferred to Lisbon's Benfica, where he quickly adapted and became an important part of the team structure. With his participation, the team achieved a remarkable second place in the Portuguese championship and took part in the Club World Cup.

The new contract with Real Madrid is set for six years, which shows the club's serious intention to invest in young talents. At 22 years old, Carreras has the potential to develop into one of the leading defenders in European football.

The transfer demonstrates Real Madrid's traditional strategy of attracting young, promising footballers who have played in different European leagues and have proven their qualities.

Expectations for the young defender are high, with the club management seeing him as the future of their defense. His versatility and experience from different leagues make him an extremely attractive transfer.
