Minister of Defence Dimitar Stoyanov has dismissed a former lieutenant colonel and reserve officer from his post. The dismissal took place two days ago due to suspicions of malpractice during a public procurement procedure.

"He was dismissed two days ago; I had prior information because we work very well with the Military Police. They did a truly wonderful job," Stoyanov commented to journalists at the Council of Ministers. The minister did not name the removed official but specified that the case has already been referred to the Military Prosecutor's Office.

According to Stoyanov, the analysis of the public procurement contract revealed violations and "most likely there is malpractice." He denied that the actions were part of a "purge" within the administration, describing them instead as "normal actions in such a situation."

The minister assured that there are currently no other dismissed employees, but that he will continue to order inspections by the Military Police whenever any suspicion of irregularities arises.
