The Minister of Agriculture and Food, Plamen Abrovski, held a key meeting with representatives of the Association of Fish Products Producers "BG Fish". The main topic of discussion was the future of the "Fisheries and Aquaculture" sector in Bulgaria.
Classification of zones in the Black Sea
A key focus of the meeting was the need for the classification of zones in the Black Sea. According to Minister Abrovski, this is a fundamental step toward expanding business activities, ensuring product safety, and increasing trust in Bulgarian producers on global markets.
"Zoning is among the key prerequisites for expanding the opportunities for business activity in the sector in our country," the Minister of Agriculture emphasized.
Support for the sector and administrative relief
- Financial aid: "De minimis" aid in the amount of 760,000 euros has been approved for freshwater fish producers for 2026.
- Administrative burden: The Ministry expects specific proposals from the industry to refine the regulatory framework.
- Labor force: The introduction of one-day labor contracts is being discussed to help the sector cope with labor shortages.
During the meeting, it was confirmed that the ministry will continue active dialogue with industry organizations to ensure a sustainable and predictable policy, aligned with the requirements of the European Union.
