Cinema magic by the sea
The Burgas International Film Festival returns for its 11th edition from July 20th to 25th. The program promises six days filled with quality cinema, discussions, and meetings with some of the most interesting contemporary authors.
For the first time, the festival is moving beyond the central area and reaching a new audience with screenings at the Youth International Center in the "Meden Rudnik" complex.
Competition program and highlights
- Feature debuts: "My Samba" (Angola), "Blue Heron" (Canada/Hungary), and the Bulgarian "Women Out of Use".
- "Tunes" section: Music documentaries, including the 4K restoration of Tokyo Melody about Ryuichi Sakamoto.
- "Black Sea" section: Documentary and feature titles with a regional focus.
Accompanying program and workshops
In addition to the screenings, the audience can participate in:
- An acting workshop with Nikolay Mutafchiev.
- A cyanotype workshop "Photography without a camera".
- A presentation of the book "Scandinavian Cinema – Styles and Motifs" by Mirela Vasileva.
The festival will close on July 25th with the latest film by the legendary Gus Van Sant – "Medusa Deluxe".
