Deputy Minister Nevena Lazarova outlined the potential for strategic partnership between the metallurgical and defense sectors, emphasizing the opportunities for joint participation in European industrial programs.

During a working meeting with representatives of the Bulgarian Association of the Metallurgical Industry (BAMI) and leading experts from the defense sector, the Deputy Minister of Economy Nevena Lazarova emphasized the need to deepen inter-industry cooperation.

The key focus of the discussion was related to the potential for integration in the context of European industrial development programs. Lazarova underlined the strategic importance of the two sectors for the national economy, highlighting opportunities for joint projects through instruments such as the European Defense Fund (EDF) and the SAFE Regulation.

Experts from the metallurgical sector presented their technical readiness and capacity to participate in complex industrial initiatives. They emphasized the presence of modern low-emission facilities and the application of sustainable production practices that fully correspond to European industrial standards.

Specific areas of cooperation were identified as the production of specialized materials - protective elements, armor steel, aluminum and titanium alloys. Industry representatives emphasized the possibilities for forming industrial consortia, including through cross-border partnerships.

The defense sector was presented as a leading sector in industrial turnover relative to the country's scale. Its representatives shared that through long-term visionary work and private investments, they have developed a number of technological solutions that fully comply with contemporary European industrial policies.

In conclusion, Deputy Minister Lazarova announced the Ministry of Economy's intention to create a specialized platform for sustainable cooperation between the metallurgical and defense sectors, which will facilitate the implementation of joint strategic projects.
