The new generation Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is revealed on the road
Mercedes-AMG has officially begun testing the new generation of its extreme GT Black Series. The first prototypes were captured on public roads in Spain, revealing an aggressive aerodynamic package and the familiar, earth-shattering sound of a V8 engine.
The new AMG GT Black Series will serve as the homologation basis for the next generation of the AMG GT3 race car.
Aggressive design and aerodynamics
Despite heavy camouflage, the prototype demonstrates radical changes:
- A large front splitter and specific air intakes on the hood.
- Side air channels and exhaust vents for better cooling.
- A massive rear wing and diffuser, optimized for maximum downforce.
What do we expect under the hood?
The video from the tests confirms that the model will retain the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. The main question for the engineers is whether a hybrid system will be added. Unlike the heavy AMG GT 63 S E Performance (over 2200 kg), for the Black Series, the priority remains low weight and track performance.
We expect the new model to surpass the 720 horsepower of its predecessor and become the most radical creation from Mercedes-AMG to date.
