AITOS - An elderly man from Aitos is fighting for his life in the hospital after a serious incident with a horse, announced the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Burgas. According to initial information, the 71-year-old man fell from the animal and was dragged on the ground, which led to serious injuries.

The incident occurred on August 16 in the town's land, near the former military factory. A report of the incident was filed with the Aitos District Police Department around 5:55 PM. After receiving the report, police teams immediately responded to the scene.

When the rescue teams found the victim, he was in a helpless state and unconscious. Visible abrasions were found all over his body, which is indicative of the serious nature of the incident. The man was subsequently transported for emergency treatment to the intensive care unit of the "Dewa Maria" hospital.

The doctors diagnosed the victim with polytrauma - a condition in which the patient has multiple severe injuries. Currently, he is in a coma, and his condition remains life-threatening. Experts emphasize that such incidents with animals often carry a risk of complex and combined injuries, especially in elderly people.

The Burgas police confirmed that a pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the case. Investigators will clarify all circumstances surrounding the incident - from the causes of the fall to the duration of the dragging and the condition of the animal. The purpose of the proceedings is to establish the exact facts that led to the incident and to assess whether there is evidence of a crime.
