A specialized police operation will be conducted from July 4-6, with its main goal being the reduction of risks on road infrastructure. The initiative is part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' strategic plan to improve traffic safety.

Control actions will be focused on several key areas representing potential dangers for traffic participants:

Experts will monitor extremely precisely:

• Improper maneuver execution
• Non-compliance with road signs and restrictions
• Lack of right of way
• Aggressive driving behavior
• Forbidden road sections
• Non-use of safety equipment

On highways, special attention will be paid to: • Misuse of emergency stopping lane
• Unauthorized movement and parking
• Violations related to Article 58 of the Road Traffic Act

Police officers will have the opportunity to issue and collect fines directly on-site through mobile POS terminals, with both drivers and passengers with unpaid obligations being sanctioned.

In case of incidents or dangerous situations, citizens are called to first call 112, and then inform on social networks.

According to official data from the General Directorate "National Police", the measures taken so far already show positive results. From the beginning of the year, around 2,000,000 vehicles have been checked, and serious traffic accidents have decreased compared to the same period last year.

Chief Inspector Lachezar Blizankov from the "Road Police" department announced that police presence will continue intensively throughout the entire summer season, with special emphasis on days from Friday to Sunday.

The strategy aims not only to sanction but also to prevent, with the ultimate goal of maximally guaranteeing the safety of all traffic participants.
