Another successful specialized police operation was presented today during an official briefing by key representatives of local law enforcement institutions. Veselin Gangalov, Administrative Head of the District Prosecutor's Office-Sliven, and Senior Commissioner Dimitar Velichkov, Director of the Regional Interior Ministry Directorate, revealed details about the large-scale operation.

Joint actions by employees from the "Counteraction to Criminal Crime" sector and the prosecutor's office led to an extremely important discovery. In a remote settlement, a property was localized that served as a storage facility for high-risk narcotic substances.

During meticulously conducted procedural-investigative actions, a total of 59 packages containing dry leaf mass were seized. Express tests confirmed that the substance is cannabis with a total weight of around 30 kilograms. According to the official assessment of the prosecutor's office, the seized quantity has a market value of 600,000 leva, and on the street could reach up to 1,200,000 leva.

During the operation, a 35-year-old man was identified and detained, for whom irrefutable evidence of direct connection to the crime was collected. Formal charges of drug possession in exceptionally large quantities have been brought against the detainee, and the most severe measure of restraint - "detention in custody" - has been imposed.

The prescribed punishment for such a crime is extremely serious - from 5 to 15 years of imprisonment, accompanied by a fine between 20,000 and 100,000 leva. The pre-trial investigation continues.
