Strong US stance on the Strait of Hormuz
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated categorically that the Strait of Hormuz will be open "one way or another." This statement comes against the backdrop of tensions in the region and strikes carried out by US forces against Iranian military targets.
"The straits must and will remain open one way or another," Rubio emphasized to reporters.
US Central Command spokesman Tim Hawkins confirmed that the US military had attacked a surface-to-air missile system at the port of Bandar Abbas, as well as two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vessels that were laying mines. Washington emphasized that the actions were strictly defensive.
Negotiations with Iran and the situation in Ukraine
- Peace agreement: Rubio noted that finalizing the text of the deal with Iran could take a few more days.
- Diplomacy: Consultations have been held in Qatar, with the president expressing readiness to reach an agreement.
- War in Ukraine: Despite the commitment to global security, Rubio clarified that there are currently no planned negotiations to settle the conflict in Ukraine.
The situation remains dynamic, as the world awaits the results of diplomatic efforts in the Middle East region.
