Marina Nenkova, a serving prosecutor at the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, has been officially nominated as an elective member of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) from the prosecutors' quota, the SJC announced. Her candidacy is viewed as an opportunity to strengthen professional representation within the council.

The nomination is supported by magistrates working in the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office and the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office. In their motives, they highlight Nenkova's long-standing legal experience, exceeding 18 years, as well as her high moral and professional standards. Nenkova's professional path in the judicial system began in 2016 at the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office. On August 3, 2020, she was seconded to the 05 “Specialized” Department of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office. Later, on December 2, 2024, she took the position of Deputy City Prosecutor of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, a role she held until August 20, 2026. Throughout her career, she has exercised leadership and supervision over criminal proceedings and files of high public interest, characterized by high legal and factual complexity. In these tasks, Nenkova has demonstrated extensive practical experience, in-depth legal knowledge, and strict adherence to the principles of independence, objectivity, and legality.
