With a joint educational initiative entitled "The Translator's Love," the National Chitalishte (Community Center) "Far 1946" in Burgas and the publishing house "Znaci" will celebrate their anniversaries - 80 and 20 years, respectively. The initiative will open on February 24th at the "Morsko Kazino" Cultural Center with the presentation of the book "Magical Creatures from Ukrainian Myth" by Dara Korniy, announced publisher Rumyana Emanueluidu on social media.
The translation into Bulgarian is the work of Lidiya Nichiporuk, who has been living in Burgas for ten years. The book, subtitled "Spirits of Nature," is published with its original illustrations by Anhelina Kankava and offers a systematized look at pre-Ukrainian mythology, combining an encyclopedic approach with a fictional narrative.
Author Dara Korniy, who lives in Lviv and has over 20 published titles, draws inspiration from authentic folklore, including legends, fairy tales, and customs. "The past is not just a layer of history; it lives in each of us at the level of genetic memory," says author Dara Korniy in her address to readers.
The premiere date - February 24th - was chosen to mark the anniversary of the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the organizers note. Within the presentation, the translator Lidiya Nichiporuk will perform musical works on the bandura - a traditional Ukrainian stringed instrument with a rich history dating back to the 16th-17th centuries. The modern concert bandura, which she will play, has between 50 and 65 strings. The "The Translator's Love" program will continue throughout the anniversary year. One of the next events in the series is the premiere of the new book by Hayri Hamdan, "The Call of the Abyss" (published by "Znaci"), which will take place on March 10th again at the "Morsko Kazino" Cultural Center in Burgas.
