The Burgas refinery under strict control
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Aleksandar Pulev stated that in recent weeks Lukoil Neftohim Burgas has not been processing Russian oil. The government is in constant contact with American and British partners to ensure that financial flows do not reach sanctioned individuals.
"I categorically state - Bulgaria will comply with all requirements. Not a single lev or euro has been given to sanctioned companies," emphasized Pulev.
Critical risks and solutions
- Constitutional Court: The decision regarding the special manager raises the question of returning control to the Russian owners over three of the subsidiaries.
- Fuel strategy: The government plans to declare critical infrastructure sites as ones of "national strategic importance."
- Derogation: All necessary documents have been submitted, and the state is strictly following EU rules.
Pulev rejected speculation that the derogation is linked to the relocation of American tanker aircraft to the Bezmer air base, describing the processes as completely independent of each other.
