Varna Airport reports significant passenger growth and expansion of its destination network during the winter season.

The airport_s director, Dimitar Kostadinov, announced today that this winter will offer flights to 16 destinations – four more compared to the previous year.

Kostadinov emphasized that flights to existing destinations will also be operated with higher frequency.

Passenger growth is impressive. Since the beginning of 2025, Varna Airport has served nearly 1.4 million passengers – an increase of about 17 percent compared to the same period last year. The most remarkable is the growth of the German market, noted Kostadinov. Varna connects with 15 airports in Germany, with about half a million passengers traveling through these routes.

A lively atmosphere is observed in the airport building; the euphoric mood associated with the increasing number of flights and passengers is palpable.

Today also marks a significant event: after a five-year interruption, the direct route to Bergamo (Italy) has been restored.

Flights will be operated by "Wizz Air" twice a week – on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The event coincided with the celebratory marking of the 8th anniversary of the opening of the "Wizz Air" base in Varna.

Anastasia Novak, "Corporate Sustainability and Communications" manager at the company, announced to the media that a new route is to be opened – Varna – Bratislava.

Novak emphasized that "Wizz Air"_s strategy is to strengthen its presence in Central and Eastern Europe, and Varna is emerging as a promising destination. She added that the company is exploring the possibility of introducing direct flights from Varna to Larnaca (Cyprus) and Barcelona (Spain).

The expansion of the destination network will undoubtedly contribute to the further development of Varna Airport and the region.
