Critical fire situation near Ilindetsi: Rescue teams on full alert

A large-scale forest fire threatens the Kresna area, with regional authorities taking immediate measures to limit its spread and protect the population.

The Regional Governor of Blagoevgrad, Georgi Dinev, reported to BTA about the emergency situation related to the spreading fire in the area of Ilindetsi village. Although there is currently no direct danger to populated areas, the authorities are on maximum alert to activate the BG-ALERT system if necessary.

The fire front is spreading north towards the Kresna region, characterized as a crown fire, which poses additional challenges for rescue teams. Multiple police and firefighting units are positioned at the site of the incident, continuously monitoring the situation's development.

Specialized services are concentrated in the villages of Vlahi, Dolna Gradeshnitsa, and Kresna. Simultaneously, wide firebreaks are being created with the help of chain equipment and volunteers to prevent further flame spread.

According to official information from eng. Petko Angelov, head of the "Forest Territories Protection" department at the Southwestern State Enterprise, the affected areas exceed 2000 decares. The exact extent of the damage is still being determined, while ensuring that the fire does not directly threaten Pirin National Park.

Regional Governor Georgi Dinev, who is directly on the ground near Ilindetsi, emphasized the extremely dynamic nature of the situation, which is changing literally every minute. Rescue services are on full combat readiness to take immediate action in case of a potential deterioration of the circumstances.
