The Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Plamen Todorov, and the Acting Chairperson of the Commission for Illegal Assets Forfeiture (CIAF), Antoaneta Georgieva-Tsonkova, have officially signed a memorandum of cooperation between the two institutions. The information was confirmed by the CIAF press office.

The document establishes a framework for interaction in the exercise of the two commissions' legal powers. It regulates the exchange of information and expertise, providing for joint action in cases where data collected by one entity is relevant to the operations of the other. The memorandum details the situations in which the ACC must notify the CIAF, including discrepancies identified in asset declarations, final acts establishing a conflict of interest, and cases where declarations are not submitted within the statutory timeframe.

The partnership also provides for joint training, workshops, and seminars. The commissions will share analyses, methodological materials, and best practices.

It is worth recalling that in July, the CIAF reported legal success in four cases. At that time, the courts ordered the forfeiture of assets with a total value of over 720,000 euros.
