The MPs of the 51st National Assembly elected Kostadin Angelov as Deputy Chairman. The decision was supported by 132 MPs, while 53 voted against, and 11 abstained.
The election of Kostadin Angelov comes after a rotation in the leadership of the parliament. He takes the position previously held by Raya Nazaryan. The last vote for a new deputy chairman was held after Nazaryan was elected as the Chairman of the National Assembly. This happened after the withdrawal of Nataliya Kiseleva.
The decision for rotational chairmanship was made by the Joint Governance Council on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the three governing formations in the parliament.
Yesterday, Nataliya Kiseleva from "BSP-United Left" announced her withdrawal from the post of Chairman of the Parliament, sending a message to her colleagues. "Today I am withdrawing and thus showing how to act with a sense of duty and responsibility towards parliamentary practice in the conditions of joint governance", she said to the MPs.
After the withdrawal of Kiseleva, Raya Nazaryan from GERB-SDS was elected as the Chairman of the 51st National Assembly. Nazaryan, who previously held the position of Deputy Chairman, expressed her attitude towards her new position. "I accept this election with respect and commitment", she emphasized.
