The first national scientific and practical conference, “Social Services – Educational and Institutional Perspectives”, organized by Burgas Free University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov" with the support of Burgas Municipality, established itself not only as a significant academic event, but also as a space for genuine human encounter and social inclusion.
Alongside the serious and in-depth program, the conference left a strong impression with what is felt beyond the formal framework – empathy, acceptance, and shared experience. The event brought together experts, lecturers, and practitioners, but its most valuable contribution was the creation of a living link between theory and real life.
The organizers from the university took an important and rare step – they opened their doors to social projects and created an environment in which children and young people with Down syndrome were present not as a topic of discussion, but as a natural and fully-fledged part of the community. This gave the conference a new dimension, going beyond its academic format.
This approach showed a different understanding of the role of education – as a bridge to real life, to acceptance, and to building a society based on respect and equal opportunities.
