The National Consumer Protection Commission initiated a large-scale investigation of the fuel market, covering the leading commercial chains in the country. Experts conducted in-depth checks, which revealed a significant increase in average retail sales prices compared to previous trading periods.

Within the control actions, the regulatory body took official steps to clarify the emerging price dynamics. The checked commercial entities were required to provide detailed written statements, accompanied by the necessary evidentiary documentation, which would argue the reasons for the price changes.

The institution set a specific five-day deadline for submitting the explanatory documents. In them, traders should outline the objective economic prerequisites that would justify the fuel price adjustments.

The current legislation stipulates that commercial practices must be carried out with strict adherence to the principles of good faith and professional responsibility. Special emphasis is placed on the impact of these practices on consumer choice and behavior.

Unjustified price increases, especially in the absence of transparent information about economic factors, can be qualified as a potential violation of established market norms. The Commission declares readiness for further monitoring and taking protective measures in case of identifying unlawful commercial practices.

In the upcoming months, the institution will continue systematic monitoring of the fuel market, with priority being the protection of consumer interests and prevention of unjustified price increases.
