The KNSB trade union has rejected the government's plan to set the 2027 minimum wage at €660 and wants €690, union president Plamen Dimitrov told reporters. See our original report: Minimum wage cap for 2027 is €678.80, exact figure not yet announced.

The €660 figure is in a draft decree of the Council of Ministers, which has been put out for public consultation. The old formula in the Labour Code gives €690. KNSB asked for that amount in talks with deputy prime minister and finance minister Galab Donev. Dimitrov said the proposal is piling up negatives for the government.

The union also rejects the pay rise for public sector workers in next year's budget. It is 5%, and 7.5% for teachers. Dimitrov said that with inflation as it is, workers will not take such a rise well. KNSB will press for 10%.

The union expects to meet Donev tomorrow morning.

"We have prepared a protest car procession in Sofia for tomorrow, which will start at 12:00 in front of parliament," Dimitrov said. KNSB expects about 3,000 people and more than 700 cars to take part.
