Experiential Learning: Nature as a Classroom
There are lessons that are not taught within four walls, but rather smell of soil, herbs, and freshly picked vegetables. The project "Classroom Among the Garden Beds – Getting to Know Nature" turned the learning process into an unforgettable adventure for 50 children from "Vasil Aprilov" Primary School in Burgas.
"Nature is not a place we visit. It is our home."
Between November 2025 and May 2026, the students immersed themselves in the rhythm of the "Biotiful" organic farm. They not only learned the principles of permaculture but also prepared the soil themselves, planted crops, and took care of their own "personal garden bed."
Key highlights of the initiative:
- Practical skills: From planting garlic and onions to making "homes" for worms out of natural materials.
- Digital detox: Screens and phones were completely replaced by the mud kitchen, outdoor games, and teamwork.
- Ecological thinking: The children understood the role of pesticides versus natural herbal defenses and the importance of the balance between insects, soil, and water.
The culmination of the project – the "Fruits of Our Labor" event – brought the community together to celebrate the efforts of the young farmers, giving them not only knowledge but also confidence in their own abilities.
