Kazanlak was adorned with incredible rose colors as the 123rd Rose Festival concluded – one of Bulgaria's most charming events. The tradition of celebrating roses, which are a symbol of the city and region, has continued for more than a century and attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world each year.
The "Rose Harvesting" Ritual: A Journey Back in Time
The highlight of the festival was the "Rose Harvesting" ritual, where guests had the opportunity to become part of the traditional process of gathering rose petals. The Narodno Chitalishte “Vera” (People's Community Center) organized demonstrations that showed how roses are grown and harvested, and visitors learned about the history and significance of rose production for Kazanlak.
Festive Parade: Bulgaria’s Largest Carnival
At 12:00 pm, President Iliyana Yotova, together with Mayor Galina Stoyanova, launched the festive parade – the largest street carnival in the country. The procession was filled with folk dances, music, and costumes that recreated the beauty and richness of Bulgarian culture.
Miss Rose 2026 and Her Ladies-in-Waiting
Visitors had the opportunity to meet Miss Rose 2026 and her ladies-in-waiting, who presented the beauty and grace of Bulgarian women.
Concert and Festival Closing
The program continued with open stages in "Rozarium" park and on “Sevtopolis” square, where guest folklore ensembles performed. The festival ended with a concert by folk singer Yanko Nedelchev, who performed beloved Bulgarian songs.
“The Rose Festival is a symbol of our traditions and culture. It reminds us of the beauty of nature and the importance of preserving it,” said President Yotova during the official closing ceremony.
