Art without gravity: "Beyond the Norms" transforms Burgas
The large-scale curatorial project "Beyond the Norms" has opened at the Center for Contemporary Art and Library in Burgas. The exhibition immerses visitors in a world where bodies float among clouds, and space appears simultaneously weightless and deeply human.
The project does not offer ready-made answers, but rather extends an invitation to the viewer to rethink the boundaries between body and spirit, individuality and society.
Two artistic universes
The exposition brings together two remarkable names: Bulgarian artist Mika Sav and Norwegian author Trine Lise Nedreaas. Despite their differences in style, they are united by the search for inner freedom.
- Mika Sav: Her canvases present ethereal figures that do not obey gravity. The pink accents in her paintings breathe vibrant energy and a sense of personal freedom.
- Trine Lise Nedreaas: An established name on the European scene with participations in MoMA PS1 and the Venice Biennale. Her sculptural forms explore the fragile balance of the human psyche.
Mission and future of the project
"Beyond the Norms" is realized by curators Stefka Doncheva and Stefan Stoyanov with the support of the "Culture" Fund of Burgas Municipality. The project is a key part of the city's strategy to establish itself as a center for international cultural exchange in the context of its candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2032.
During the summer, the second phase of the project is set to take place with the participation of Nina Ruseva and American artist Heather Bennett, who will continue the discussion on the female voice in contemporary art.
