Today is a critical date for the electoral process in Bulgaria. The deadline expires for candidates for Members of Parliament, who were elected in two different multi-mandate electoral districts, to officially declare from which list they wish to enter the 52nd Parliament.

The Choice Between Two Lists: What Should Candidates Do?

According to the schedule established by the Central Election Commission (CEC), when a candidate is elected in two multi-mandate electoral districts, they are obliged within one day of being informed in writing to declare to the CEC which list they wish to remain elected in. This is a key moment for finalizing the composition of the future National Assembly.

A total of 13 candidates are in this specific situation and need to make a decision.

Distribution of Mandates in the 52nd Parliament

The CEC has already announced the distribution of mandates among the main political forces, which clearly outlines the political picture for the upcoming parliament:

Interestingly, it has been established so far that 21 candidates have already refused to take their mandates in the 52nd National Assembly. The CEC is expected to announce the official list of names of the parliament on Saturday.
