Iva Ivanova and Rositsa Dencheva will meet in the singles quarter-finals of the W50 women's tennis tournament in Burgas, the results show. Yaneva lost 6-4, 6-4 to Germany's Sonja Zenichova in 2 hours 12 minutes. She was broken five times.
Ivanova beat Italy's Federica Urgesi 7-5, 6-3 in 2 hours 6 minutes. She missed six set points in the 10th game of the first set, then broke serve in the 11th to win it. She led 5-2 in the second and closed out the match with ease.
Fourth seed Dencheva dominated Luus Ebeling Koning of the Netherlands, winning 6-1, 6-1 in 57 minutes. Lidia Encheva's match against third seed Anastasiya Soboleva of Ukraine is under way.
Five Bulgarian players play in the doubles quarter-finals later in the day. Angelina Kostova and Galena Krastenova, an all-Bulgarian pair, will play Romania's Maia Burcescu and Zenichova for a place in the semi-finals.
Ralitsa Aleksandrova and Valeria Garnevska face third seeds Urgesi and Sarah van Emst of the Netherlands. Melis Rasim and Serbia's Anja Stankovic play top seeds Oana Gavrila of Romania and Sapfo Sakellaridi of Greece.
The tournament has a $40,000 prize fund and is played on clay at the Avenue tennis club.
