MPs from "There Is Such a People" (ITN) expressed a position regarding the adopted amendments to the Social Assistance Act, which expanded the range of people who can receive Christmas and Easter supplements. They emphasized that the legislator's will is for the supplements to be for all children.
Tsvetan Predov from ITN stated that "Easter and Christmas supplements apply to all children" and clarified that the law includes all children, as well as young people from 18 to 21 years old. He emphasized that the interpretation of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP) should be in accordance with this will.
Stanislav Balabanov from ITN pointed out that the provided funds are around 25 million euros and that the responsibility for finding them lies with the caretaker government and the Minister of Finance.
Alexander Rashev from ITN stressed that the executive branch should implement the will of the legislator and warned that if the MLSP does not provide the targeted assistance to all children under 18 years of age, citizens should file claims in the legally prescribed manner.
The MPs from ITN are categorical that Article 12a, which provides for the supplements, should be interpreted independently and not refer to other articles.
