The caretaker Minister of Tourism, Irena Georgieva, announced a sustainable growth in tourists from traditional markets, which is an indicator of restored trust and the effectiveness of the measures taken. She highlighted the strong interest in family vacations, package trips, and combined tourism products for the summer season of 2026.
According to Georgieva, this growth is due to: increased air connectivity, modernized airports, active partnerships with international operators, and increased digital presence. She emphasized the role of active diplomatic dialogue.
For the winter season 2025-2026, the data shows stable interest. Bulgaria is consolidating its position as a safe and accessible destination.
The Ministry notes a steady flow of tourists, especially from key European markets, thanks to the restored trust and improved connectivity. The main goal is to consolidate trust and position Bulgaria as a year-round tourist destination.
Emphasis is placed on partnerships and international presence, especially in the markets of the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, and the Czech Republic. Bulgaria is participating in 23 international tourism exhibitions in 2026.
A significant emphasis is the hosting of the Giro d'Italia Grande Partenza 2026, which will generate international media coverage. The goal is to present Bulgaria with its rich culture, nature, and gastronomy.
Among the priorities is the creation of a favorable investment environment. A strategic document "Tourism Doing Business – Investing in Bulgaria" has been developed. Georgieva noted the preserved trust of tourists, investors, and partners.
