President Iliana Yotova started consultations for the appointment of a caretaker Prime Minister. The first meeting was with the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, Dimitar Radev.
Dimitar Radev refused to take the position, citing violations of Bulgarian and European law, as well as ethical norms in central banking. He emphasized that such an action would lead to resignation and potential destabilization of the BNB.
After the meeting with Radev, the President will meet with the deputy governors of the BNB. Talks with the ombudsman and the chairman of the Audit Office are scheduled by the end of the week.
After Yotova determines a candidate for the caretaker cabinet, they have one week to propose a government. The President must also set a date for early elections within two months.
