The situation with the landslide near Pamporovo has already stabilized. The state is showing solidarity and concern regarding the issue. Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov told bTV that the landslide is located behind the sign and does not pose a threat to people's lives. Despite reservation cancellations, an on-site press conference will be held next week to reassure tourists.
Security as a main advantage for the season
Bulgaria ranks among the safest tourist destinations. During the Giro d'Italia cycling tour in our country, not a single theft was registered. The organizers confirmed that there were criminal incidents in other countries, while here the passage was completely peaceful.
"Bulgaria is a safe destination. The effects on tourism and the economy in our country after the Tour of Italy will be felt next year," commented the minister.
Recovery after disasters and summer expectations
The rains affected Veliko Tarnovo and Dryanovo. The minister called for swift action to repair the damage in Northern Bulgaria. It is necessary to conduct a thorough analysis of the causes and potential human intervention to avoid future incidents in these highly visited areas.
The ministry expects the summer season to be similar to last year's. The main advantages of our country remain security and clean water. Tourist flow statistics show the following trends:
- Over 60% of holidaymakers in our country are Bulgarian citizens.
- Romanians are in second place with 1.4 million visits annually.
- Followed by markets such as Poland, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
- Investments in the sector yield a return in a 1 to 100 ratio.
Last year, a German carrier canceled the trips of 100,000 Germans to our country. To improve control, a special observatory for measuring the quality of tourist services will begin operating by the end of the year.
