Economic activity in the Burgas region marked an increase in 2025, according to data from the Territorial Statistical Bureau – Southeast. The economically active population aged between 15 and 64 years is 182,700, and the economic activity rate reaches 75.8%, which represents an increase of 1.5 percentage points compared to 2024.
Employed persons of the same age are 175,200, and the employment rate is 72.6%. A difference between the sexes is observed - 78.9% for men and 66.4% for women. An increase of 1.6 percentage points is reported compared to the previous year.
The distribution of employed persons by education shows a prevailing number with secondary education (89,700 people), followed by those with higher education (69,300 people). The highest employment rate is reported among university graduates (92%), and the lowest among those with primary and lower education (36.3%).
The number of unemployed is 7,500 people, and the unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is a decrease of 0.3 percentage points. Economically inactive persons are 58,500.
