Drone incident near Kardam: GERB-SDS criticisms
The entry of a drone into Bulgaria's airspace near Kardam has sparked a sharp reaction from GERB-SDS MP and member of the Defense Committee Hristo Gadzhev. In a social media post, he called on the government to defend our national interest.
Gadzhev expressed concern: "If the drone is Ukrainian, it will be all over the media by tonight. But if it turns out to be Russian, let's not have the government start making excuses for it."
The state's reaction and the security issue
According to Gadzhev, Romania has shown a much firmer stance in similar incidents, including the expulsion of Russian diplomats. The MP emphasized that he hopes the current administration will not enter into an "apologetic mode" toward Russia, similar to the case with Iran.
- Possible escalation: A potential Russian origin of the drone is viewed as a provocation toward NATO and Bulgaria.
- National interest: Clarity is expected regarding the origin of the device and a firm response from the institutions.
- Comparison: The example of Romania as a model for airspace protection.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway, and the public is awaiting official information regarding the origin and purpose of the drone.
