In Burgas, the highest incidence of influenza is among children up to 15 years old. This was announced in "The Day Begins" by Dr. Miroslava Kiselkova, Director of the "Surveillance of Infectious Diseases" Directorate at the Regional Health Inspectorate - Burgas.

"About 10% of the students are absent and about 5% of the teachers. But we have no data on disrupted teaching process at the moment," she explained.

However, the city is far from declaring a flu epidemic for now, despite the increasing number of patients with acute respiratory illnesses and influenza. To declare a flu epidemic, the number of patients must exceed 236 people per 10,000 population.

"The data from the last week show that we have 356 registered cases of acute respiratory illnesses and influenza, which corresponds to an incidence of around 187 people per 10,000. Tracking the 7-day trend, the data shows that the incidence in Burgas is still below 200 people per 10,000," Dr. Kiselkova said.

There is no pressure on the healthcare system in the city, Dr. Miroslava Kiselkova also stated. There are free pediatric beds, infectious disease and therapeutic beds.
