The Ministry of Education and Science has officially approved the schedule for the upcoming school year, which was subjected to public discussion a month ago. The decision, which affects millions of students and their families, confirms the ministry's initial proposals and provides clarity on holidays and vacations.
Autumn and Christmas vacation
According to the approved schedule, the autumn vacation will cover the period from October 31 to November 3, inclusive. This short break will allow students to rest before the cold months arrive.
The most eagerly awaited break for students - the Christmas vacation - will begin on December 24 and continue until January 4, inclusive. This will provide enough time to celebrate Christmas and New Year with family and friends.
Spring vacation and other holidays
The spring vacation is scheduled in two different periods. For students from 1st to 11th grade, it will last from April 4 to April 13. The future high school graduates from 12th grade, whose preparation for the matriculation exams is at its peak, will have a slightly shorter vacation, which will begin on April 8.
A three-day break is also scheduled between the two semesters, from January 31 to February 2, inclusive.
The schedule approved by the Ministry of Education also includes a curious non-school day – March 2 (Monday). It will merge with the national holiday on March 3, thus forming a longer break covering the days from February 28 to March 3.
Matriculation exam dates
As part of the tradition, the days of the state matriculation exams will also be non-school days. The first mandatory exam, in Bulgarian language and literature, is scheduled for May 20. The second matriculation exam will be held on May 22. These dates are of crucial importance for thousands of students who are finishing their secondary education.
- Exam in Bulgarian language and literature: May 20
- Second mandatory exam: May 22
