The regional organization of GERB – Burgas maintains its position against the construction of a refugee center in the municipality of Sredets, the party's press center reports. The reason is a decision of the Council of Ministers to provide land from former barracks to the State Agency for Refugees.
GERB – Burgas categorically objects to the opening of the center, emphasizing that this affects local security, public attitudes, and the development of the municipality. The structure recalls that in 2016, when the party governed Sredets, a decision was made against refugee centers.
The organization believes that the local authorities have not protected the interests of the residents. They point out that there is a concept for a logistics park, which is in line with the interests of the local community. They insist that the intention for a refugee center contradicts the long-term development strategy.
GERB – Burgas declares that it will comply with the will of the citizens of Sredets, which is consistently against the construction of a center. It stands firmly behind the citizens and their right to a safe environment.
