The Parliament will discuss on second reading amendments to the Labor Code, which allow for flexible working hours for parents of children up to 12 years of age throughout the year, and not only during the summer vacation. This is the first item on the agenda for today's plenary session.

The amendments were introduced by Denitsa Sacheva (GERB-SDS) and a group of MPs and were approved by the Labor and Social Policy Committee in the National Assembly on second reading in early December.

Currently, the Labor Code provides for the possibility for parents of children under the age of eight to work with flexible working hours. The current proposal provides an opportunity for parents (adopters) of children up to 12 years of age to take advantage of this, initially with the provision that this would only apply to the summer vacation, but now on the second reading, the possibility of flexible working hours is proposed to be throughout the year.

The agenda for the plenary session includes the first reading of amendments to the Plant Protection Act, proposed by Tsveta Karayancheva (GERB-SDS) and a group of MPs. It is envisaged that the MPs will vote on the second reading of amendments to the Penal Code, introduced by the Council of Ministers. The program for today also includes the second reading of amendments to the Consumer Protection Act, with the Council of Ministers as the proposer.
