A large-scale scientific study reveals a direct link between moderate exercise and improved sleep in people over 30 years old, confirming the importance of regular physical activity for a healthy lifestyle.

A leading scientific study, published in the prestigious Sleep Health Journal, reveals compelling evidence of the positive impact of physical exercise on the quality of night rest. The large-scale research, covering 1,600 participants between 30 and 60 years old, tracks their habits and sleep patterns over the course of a year.

Experts found categorical benefits for volunteers who practice moderate physical activity at least three times a week. The activities included in the study cover brisk walking, swimming, and yoga – accessible forms of movement that do not require special preparation.

The results are extremely encouraging: participants report a 42-percent improvement in falling asleep and a 36-percent reduction in night interruptions. An additional positive effect is improved overall mood and significantly reduced daytime sleepiness.

The sleep trackers used confirm the scientific observations, registering an increase in the duration of the deep sleep phase (N3), which is critical for body recovery and cognitive functions.

Prof. Susan Lee from the University of British Columbia emphasizes that physical activity helps regulate the circadian rhythm and reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which directly affects sleep quality.

The study's conclusions fully correspond with the World Health Organization's recommendations, which highlight the multiple benefits of moderate physical activity for overall human health.
