Bulgaria's preparations for hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 are on track, Minister Evtim Miloshev assured in the show "Zashto" on bTV, emphasizing that his assessment is based on his professional experience as a producer.
The actions of the government and the media were swift after it became clear that the country would be the host. As early as the beginning of July, a ministerial-level organizing committee was established by a Council of Ministers decision, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ivo Hristov. "This shows the weight and significance of this important event for the country," commented Miloshev.
The minister clarified that Deputy Prime Minister Hristov convenes the committee regularly to set specific tasks. Regarding concerns about high prices, Miloshev commented that these are natural processes associated with overtourism, which also occur in Austria, Jena, and Liverpool.
"The main focus is on the fact that this is a stage, and that it is a cultural stage, above all, which provides an opportunity for a European and global showcase of our country," the minister stated. According to him, it is important to present not only the cultural heritage but also contemporary Bulgarian art through proper marketing.
The Ministry of Culture is already receiving ideas from municipalities, community centers, artists, and non-governmental organizations. They are striving to use the forum to showcase Bulgarian daily life, cuisine, spirit, and tourist sites. "Everyone has ideas, everyone wants to use this stage and the time surrounding this contest," added Evtim Miloshev.
