The Euro and Recovery Plans: New Perspectives for Bulgaria

Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev presents an optimistic vision for the introduction of the single European currency and the potential for financial development of the country through the updated Recovery Plan.

The next six months are crucial for the information campaign related to the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria. According to official statements by government representatives, the institutions are fully prepared to support this transition period.

On bTV's airwaves, Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev shared a categorical position regarding the challenges of the currency change. He assured citizens that initial concerns will quickly subside, and the introduction of the euro will open new investment horizons.

Among the key highlights of his statement was the European Commission's approval for changes to the National Recovery Plan. Expectations are that Bulgaria will receive an additional 9 billion leva in financing.

Donchev emphasized specific time parameters: the deadline for project completion is August 31, 2026. The forecast is for the country to absorb at least 3 billion leva within the current year.

The government's expert assessment is that the process will proceed smoothly and in a controlled manner, with an emphasis on maximum transparency and public awareness.
