The capital of Bulgaria, Sofia, is preparing to welcome a revolutionary sports event that promises to break traditional perceptions of baseball. The first European club championship in Baseball 5 will occupy the central city space in front of the National Palace of Culture over the next two days.
The innovative sports discipline represents an accessible urban version of classic baseball, which does not require specialized equipment. The only necessary item is a ball, which makes the game extremely democratic and easy to practice for people with different physical abilities.
The improvised sports arena will be equipped with minimal infrastructure - a 75-centimeter railing and marking stickers. Spectators will have the opportunity to observe the action from an extremely close distance, which guarantees maximum emotional involvement in the event.
The tournament will unite 11 European teams, with Bulgaria being represented by two strong teams - the "Lions" from the National Sports Academy and one of the oldest local baseball clubs - "Academics".
The sports program is extremely intense - from 10:00 in the morning until 18:00, a total of 30 matches will be played. In addition to the official competitions, the organizers have prepared additional attractions - interactive games, throwing opportunities, and fun raffles with prizes.
Baseball 5 demonstrates how modern sports can be simultaneously accessible, fun, and spectacular, transforming urban space into a dynamic sports arena.
