Dangerous chase on the Trakia motorway
The police have detained a man who attempted to flee from a patrol on the Trakia motorway in a vehicle that was not his own. The case has been taken over by the Sofia Directorate of the Ministry of Interior (SDVR), and an active investigation is already underway.
The incident began after a patrol spotted a driver without a seatbelt, driving erratically with tinted windows.
Chronology of the chase
- Initially, the driver stopped when signaled, but pulled away abruptly the moment the officers approached the vehicle.
- During the ensuing chase, the perpetrator performed a dangerous maneuver, overtaking a semi-truck via the emergency lane.
- After a short pursuit, the police managed to block and detain the offender before the junction for the village of Lozen; fortunately, there were no injuries.
Who is the detainee?
It has been established that the man has a serious criminal record. He has refused drug testing a total of 12 times, including in this instance. His driver's license had been revoked twice – in 2017 and 2023 – and his record also includes charges for robbery.
