Scandalous revelations regarding the Interior Ministry report
The Parliamentary Group of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) issued a sharp statement, according to which the report presented by Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev not only fails to confirm but directly refutes the data he presented to the National Assembly on July 2.
"The report received from Minister Demerdzhiev categorically confirms our thesis that everything he presented is a complete lie and fantasy," stated MP Hamid Hamid.
Key inconsistencies in the data
- Number of persons and flights: Instead of the announced more than 80 people, the document lists fewer than 10, and it turns out that a large portion of them did not fly at all.
- The "Peevski" case: Although 75 flights are cited, the report explicitly states that Delyan Peevski did not travel.
- Verification period: The scope of the document is significantly shorter than what the minister claimed, with a total lack of data for the 2018–2025 period.
Violations of the law and the Constitution
The DPS emphasizes that operational-investigative actions were carried out against a person with immunity by the GDBOP (General Directorate Combating Organized Crime) without coordination with the Prosecutor's Office, which, according to the party, is a gross violation of the Constitution and the Code of Criminal Procedure. Furthermore, the issue of the misuse of PNR data by the SANS (State Agency for National Security) is raised, which according to Hamid constitutes a crime subject to prosecution.
In conclusion, the DPS insists that Minister Demerdzhiev take political responsibility for misleading the institutions and using false data for political purposes.
