House arrest for tax officials following a corruption scandal

The District Court in Burgas has imposed a measure of "house arrest" with an electronic monitoring bracelet for two employees of the National Revenue Agency (NRA). The men are accused of corruption, specifically requesting and accepting a bribe.

The case arose following an inspection of a commercial site in the town of Chernomorets, during which the tax officials identified violations.

According to investigators, the officials demanded the sum of 300 euros in order not to report the irregularities found at the site.
